Lost, Found & Surrendered Animals
Finding a Stray
If you find a stray cat or dog, check for identification and have the animal scanned for a microchip at a veterinary clinic. Contact us at 681.220.1067 to report the stray with details about the animal and location.
Keep the stray separated from your own pets — it may be sick or aggressive. Create a lost pet flyer and post it locally and online, including on petfinder.com and Facebook. Make a found animal post on Facebook and send us a message so we can share the post, and share it with local Facebook groups.
For animal pickup, contact the Fayette County Animal Control Officer through the Sheriff's Department at 304-574-3590.
Searching for a Lost Pet
Call us at 681.220.1067 and visit in person to check if your pet was brought here. Strays are held for five days before becoming available for adoption. Check veterinary offices, petfinder.com, and social media regularly — sometimes it takes a lost pet that long to make it to the shelter.
Surrendering an Animal
We know this is a difficult decision, and we're happy to explore alternative rehoming options with you. Animals may be accepted if space permits — we currently maintain a wait list. Please call 681.220.1067 and bring your pet's veterinary records.
